Cinderella Bedtime Story

A young orphaned girl, named Cinderella lived with her stepmother and step sisters. They treated her so poorly that they would often cause her great distress. But Cinderella always forgave them. She would do all the house work, cleaning and cooking. Yet her stepmother and sisters were never happy with her work.

One day, the royal palace sent out a letter through the entire city, which said that they were hosting a ball, where the prince would be selecting a wife for himself. Everyone was so excited, and wanted to dress to their best. Cinderella wished to attend the ball too.

When the day arrived, she expressed her desire to attend, and her step mother said she could if she finished all the housework. Cinderella worked as quick as she could, but somehow there was always some work left. By the end of the day, she was left at home sad and disappointed.

In distress, she ran out into the garden, wishing out loud that a miracle may happen so that she could attend. Suddenly a small, stout woman appeared out of thin air. It was Cinderella’s fairy Godmother.

“I will help you attend the ball” she said and with the whiff of her wand, she dresses Cinderella in a beautiful blue dress and the most delicate glass slippers. Suddenly a beautiful carriage also appeared, and Cinderella was all set to attend the ball. “You must return before the clock strikes twelve!” warned the fairy.

When she arrived there, the prince was charmed by her beauty and elegance.  They danced the night away and the prince was charmed by Cinderella’s demure and Poise. As the clock neared twelve, Cinderella had to abruptly rush out of the palace, leaving the prince hanging since he hadn’t even seen her face as it was covered by a beautiful mask. On her way down the palace stairs Cinderella tripped and her slipper came off. But short on time, she couldn’t get back to fetch it.

As the prince followed Cinderella, calling her to spend at least a moment or so more, or give him her name, he picked up the slipper and kept it with him.

The next day, the prince told everyone in the castle to search for the woman whose foot fits the glass slipper. All the women, from the entire city gathered and tried to slip the shoe onto their feet but the delicate slipper was too small for them.

Cinderella’s step sisters tried their luck too, but to no good. But only when Cinderella slipped her foot into the glass slipper, did the prince realize he was looking at the girl he had fallen in love with that night.

He asked Cinderella for her hand in marriage, and she happily agreed, moving into his beautiful palace with him. The two lived happily ever after.
