As the sun set and darkness began to prevail, a Cock was ready to go to sleep sitting on a high branch. About to bury his face in his wings, the Cock was disturbed by a Fox, who had come running to the base of the tree. “Have you heard the great news?” asked the Fox, trying to show visible excitement.
“All animals have decided to put their differences aside and now you and I are also great friends. I can’t wait to embrace you!” continued the sly Fox.
The Cock listened attentively, but he leaned forward looking out into the distance. The Fox became intrigued, and asked the Cock what had caught his attention.
“Oh, it’s just a pack of dogs approaching. They must have heard the news too” said the Cock nonchalantly.
The Fox was scared out of his wits. Just then he began to run away saying he had some errands to run. The Cock had outsmarted the sly animal. The trickster had been easily tricked.
